Currently seeking a Solutions Architect supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). DHS is tasked with providing “risk-based and cost effective” cyber security to federal agencies. Responsible for implementation of DHS Cyber Strategies and Objectives. The effort covers the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for new and emerging capabilities designed to protect the nation’s Federal civilian networks from emerging cyber threats. Solutions Architecture is responsible for adherence to policies, governance, and risk management best practices designed to strengthen the strategic and operational posture of the Federal civilian networks. The successful candidate will have experience supporting a government organization in compliance with sound architecture standards and advancing its enterprise architecture (EA) maturity.
This position requires an active Top Secret with SCI eligibility. Must be willing and able to obtain DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) Suitability within a reasonable amount of time after hire, with acceptable timing determined by manager.
Responsibilities include:
–Supporting Architecture artifact development, maintenance, and performance.
–Maintaining alignment of architecture with the DHS’s Architecture guidelines.
–Determining gaps between the current and the target architecture.
–Responsible for developing plans for transitioning to target architecture.
–Identifying opportunities to improve enterprise-level systems to support business processes and utilize emerging technologies.
–Assessing new applications and technologies for alignment with organization-wide priorities and strategies.
–Reviewing projects for EA compliance and Solutions Architecture implementations.
–Create artifacts in DoD Architecture Framework 2.x (DoDAF) and be familiar with Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF), and other Enterprise Architecture frameworks.
–Facilitating cross-organizational analyses to identify duplicative investments, gaps, or opportunities for collaboration within the organization and across Federal agencies.
–Developing process improvements for the Enterprise Architecture Governance and Policies.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following:
–Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
–Over ten (10) years of work experience as a Systems Architect supporting a government organization.
–Possess current Architecture certification and have participated in Architecture training (i.e., DoDAF 2.x, Zachman, FEAC Institute, TOGAF, Enterprise Architecture Center of Excellence, etc.).
–IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification.
–SAFe or Agile certifications and/or experience in Agile software development methodologies.
–SecDefOps experience and certification
–Experience creating DoDAF artifacts and developing recommendations for optimizing architecture and strategic documents, eliminating duplicative capabilities, and realizing cost savings, avoidance, and efficiencies.
–Experience developing plans and strategies to modify the IT infrastructure to support short- and long-range goals, objectives, and plans of the organization.
–Experience drafting, coordinating, maintaining, and supporting development of overall strategic direction.
–Demonstrated ability to work with senior government leaders to identify, document, and prioritize candidate business and enterprise services architectures and strategies.
–Experience drafting and establishing the standard processes that will drive decision-making related to achieving the EA and Strategy Direction.
–Must be able to work well under pressure, and possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent organizational skills.
